Union Man
Jerry G. Hludzik/Carson Mader

After, “amens,” before family and friends
We said our vows on our wedding day
With the golden rings – a symbol of our love
We were on our way, with the Grace from up above
We heard the preacher say, “This is a perfect union.”
It was a hot afternoon, in the middle of June

When I became a union man, I’m proud to say
With all my blue-collar plans
To have a little house where love can grow
And raise a family,
Today, I became a union man

Now, as the days passed, we kept our working class
We lived a hard live, but never once did you complain
We both agree there’s no regrets about this perfect union
Since that hot afternoon, in the middle of June

When I became a union man, I’m proud to say
With all my blue-collar plans
And every night when I pray, I talk to Him and I say
“I’m glad I became a union man”

And now the kids can clearly see
There’s still this perfect union…
50 years full of June and hot afternoons

Since I became a union man
I’m damn proud to say, “We made it all the way.”
Workin’ hand in hand, my woman and her man
Since I became a union man
I’m proud to say with all my blue-collar plans

Now, here I stand, a union man

I’m damn proud to say, “We made it all the way.”
