Waiting For His Turn
J. Hludzik/C. Mader

(V1)
Grandpa stares out of the window, from his easy chair
Thinkin’ of his lady, who’s no longer there
Recallin’ all the good times, just barely makes him glad
’Cause Lord, how he misses that old good friend he had

(V2)
Hard work drew them together, as the love grew in their life
Each was always faithful, as a husband and a wife
But now life’s natural changes, find him lonely in this place
As one more tear, rolls slowly down his face

(C1)
Since she’s gone away, his life is one sad song
He knows that he’ll be joining her, up there before too long
But, Lord, don’t you know, how these memories burn
As he sits there patiently, waiting for his turn

(V3)
And, Lord, don’t you know, how he longs for her embrace
As one more tear, rolls slowly down his face
But, now rewarded by his patience, there’s a smile as he looks down
At the ole empty easy chair, from the new home that he’s found

(C2)
Since he’s gone away, his life is no more sad song
Now that he has joined with her, and this time for so long
But, Lord, don’t you know how his memories burned
While he sat there, patiently, awaiting for his turn
